BARRE-Star | Leaya
This month, we caught up with the lovely Leah Olsoff, our September BARRE Star! We heard from Leaya and her partner in crime, Barb, a few months ago when they both wanted to break out of their regular routines and commit to something new and challenging. They are both ROCKING the 60 Day Challenge, and Leaya tells us a bit more about her experience at BARRE Kamloops below!
What initially attracted you to barre?
I had tried yoga and really liked it but wanted more out of going to a fitness class without the strain and injury of going to a gym which I previously experienced. I saw BARRE Kamloops online and thought it was exactly what I was looking for.
Was it what you expected?
Barre class was above and beyond what I expected. The instructors were so friendly and welcoming. The classes themselves are always different and though they are difficult and challenging, I work at my own pace to my current level of strength, which by the way is getting stronger and my body is changing shape after only the first four weeks I attended before making the decision to become a member.
How are you feeling after your first few weeks with BARRE Kamloops?
I'm feeling sore haha.. but in a fantastic way! After every class I know I've had a great full body workout. I'm currently doing the 60 Day Challenge and I'll continue going several times a week after it's over because the barre has become a routine in my journey to a healthier, stronger, shapely me.
Is there anything in particular about the classes or studio that you love?
Yes, I love that the instructors come around continuously throughout the class to make sure my body is in proper alignment for the movements we are working on, ensuring maximum results with no injury to my body.
What would you say to someone who is on the fence about trying barre?
I would say "you have nothing to lose but inches" whether you are in shape or not, the barre meets everyone's needs. The classes are fun, the instructors are extremely knowledgeable in their training, and most of all there is no judgement. Women of all shapes, sizes are welcome to come and achieve their health goals, physically and mentally. I can't say enough about BARRE Kamloops. I'm seeing changes that I absolutely love
